We answer every message, usually within one business day: admin@vensofts.com. Please include your macOS version, the Magic Gallery version (Magic Gallery ▸ Settings ▸ About) and, if relevant, the camera model and file type.

Getting started

• Add photos: File ▸ Add Folder… (⌘O) or drag a folder onto the app. Nothing is imported or copied — Magic Gallery reads your files in place and remembers the folder.
• Apple Photos: click Connect Photos Library… in the sidebar and allow access. Originals (including RAW) are read directly from the library.
• Modes: use the rail on the left — Browse, Timeline, Edit, Compare, Cull, Map, Duplicates. Memories is in the sidebar.
• Editing: double-click a photo or press Return. Every slider is non-destructive; double-click a slider to reset it. Edits are stored in the app and optionally as .mgedit sidecars (Settings ▸ General).
• Exporting: select photos and press ⌘E. Story export (⌥⌘E) creates a web page and PDF with a route map.

Frequently asked questions

Which RAW formats are supported?

Every camera supported by macOS's RAW engine (hundreds of models, including ProRAW, DNG, compressed Fujifilm and Nikon HE files). If macOS 14 Preview can open your RAW, Magic Gallery can edit it.

Does Magic Gallery change my original files?

No. Editing is fully non-destructive. Originals are never modified; exports are new files.

Where are my edits stored?

In Magic Gallery's own container on your Mac. Turn on Also write .mgedit sidecar files in Settings to keep a copy next to each photo so edits travel with your folders.

Why are Places / Smart Tags empty?

Place names need an internet connection once (Apple reverse geocoding, cached afterwards). Smart Tags, focus scores and faces are computed on your Mac in the background — large libraries take a while. You can switch analysis off in Settings.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. All analysis runs on device. See the Privacy Policy.

Magic Gallery Pro, trials and refunds

Pro is an auto-renewing subscription billed through your Apple ID with a 7-day free trial. Manage or cancel it in the App Store app ▸ Account ▸ Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Use Restore Purchases (Settings ▸ Subscription) on a new Mac.

A photo won't open or looks wrong

Please email us the camera model, the file extension and, if possible, a sample file link. Very large files (multi-gigabyte TIFF/PSD) are supported but need a few seconds for the first preview.
