NetRadar

Privacy Policy

NetRadar collects no personal information, has no user accounts, and sends nothing to us. There is no server to send it to.

What we collect

Nothing. NetRadar has no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier, no account system, and no telemetry of any kind. It makes no request to any server operated by us, because none exists.

What is stored on your Mac

If you buy NetRadar Pro, the app remembers a few things locally so it can tell you what has changed on your network since the last scan. All of it lives inside NetRadar's own sandbox container on your Mac and is never uploaded.

• Networks you have scanned — identified by your router's hardware address and the subnet, so home and office can be told apart
• Devices seen on those networks — the name you gave them, any note you added, their address and hardware address, manufacturer, device type, open ports, and when they were first and last seen
• Scan history — the time, duration and result of past scans, so changes can be compared. Records older than 30 days are rolled up into daily summaries
• Your alert preferences and whether the Pro unlock has been purchased

The free version stores none of this. It scans, shows you the result, and forgets it when you quit.

What NetRadar sends over the network

NetRadar is a network scanner, so it necessarily sends packets. This is what it sends, and where those packets go. We think it is worth being precise rather than claiming more than is true.

Stays on your local network

• Ping (ICMP echo) requests to addresses on your own subnet
• TCP connection attempts to those addresses, to see which services are listening
• Bonjour (mDNS) and SSDP multicast messages, which is how devices announce their names to each other
• NetBIOS name queries, SNMP queries, and UPnP requests to your router
• Ordinary web requests to devices on your network, to read the title and icon of a device's own administration page and the certificate it presents

May leave your network

Two features can send traffic beyond your own network. Both are standard behaviour for a network tool, and neither sends anything about you.

• Reverse DNS lookups. To turn an address into a hostname, NetRadar asks your Mac's configured DNS resolver. If that resolver is your internet provider's rather than your router's, the lookup reaches it — exactly as any other name lookup on your Mac does.
• Trace route. When you run a trace against a host outside your network, packets travel along the route to it by design. That is the entire point of the feature, and it only runs when you ask for it.

Purchases

NetRadar Pro is a single purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Your payment details are never seen by the app or by us. The app asks Apple's on-device StoreKit framework whether a purchase exists and stores only a yes-or-no answer locally. We receive no payment information, and Apple's own privacy policy governs the transaction.

Third parties

There are none, other than Apple as the App Store operator. NetRadar bundles no third-party SDKs, contacts no third-party services, and shares nothing with anyone.

This website is served by GitHub Pages and loads no fonts, scripts, cookies or trackers from anywhere.

Deleting your data

Everything NetRadar stores lives in its sandbox container. Moving the app to the Trash removes the app; to remove the stored data as well, delete this folder:

~/Library/Containers/com.vensofts.netradar

Because nothing was ever uploaded, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf and no request to make.

Children

NetRadar is a network diagnostic tool intended for general audiences. It is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect substantive changes; if NetRadar ever did begin collecting data, that change would be described here and in the App Store privacy details before it took effect.
